GARDENVIEW Entertainment was an ambitious and very popular fan project that I brought to life under my pseudonym The Pebble Guy (°TPG). It was an elaborately designed, unofficial website with which I wanted to dive deep into the universe of the extremely successful (no longer) ROBLOX horror game DANDY'S WORLD. My main goal with this project was to provide players with a tangible platform that functioned as the fictional, official homepage for the central in game GARDENVIEW Educational Center and Museum. Through this, I wanted to build a bridge between the actual gameplay and an expanded, interactive backstory to fuel the imagination of the community.

Conceptually, the website was based on a fascinating what if scenario representing an alternative reality within the game universe. I designed the platform as if the catastrophic Ichor incident had never taken place. Visitors to my site could thus explore an undamaged, fully functional educational center and museum. This creative decision allowed me to simulate a pristine world in which the center proudly presented its educational offerings, exhibitions, and programs, forming a thrilling contrast to the dark atmosphere of the ROBLOX original.

 

An essential component of GARDENVIEW Entertainment for me was the in depth presentation of the characters and the so called lore (backstory). I built the website like a real corporate portal where the various Toons were introduced as friendly mascots, museum guides, or educators. Fans could read fictional biographies, study descriptions of exhibition rooms, and discover hidden details I came up with about the creation of the center. Due to this attention to detail, the site quickly developed into an indispensable destination for players who wanted to learn more about the personalities and original purpose of their favorite characters before ruin befell the center.

Although my project was celebrated by the community for its high quality and creative expansion of the gameplay experience, it was explicitly a purely fan made work with no commercial background. It was very important to me to show how dedicated the DANDY'S WORLD fan base is and how digital worlds can continue to grow outside the actual gaming platform through the initiative of individual players. It gives me great joy that GARDENVIEW Entertainment remains in the memory of fans as a shining example of how worldbuilding in modern gaming can be raised to a new level through creative web design.
